Another one in the future interfaces series.
This video shows a PC destop prototype, that uses 3D and physics simulation to
handle and organize files and documents in a more intuitive way, making piles and lots of othr stuff.
I would love to have this, being someone who does hate the traditional folders in folders approach.
Combine this with a powerfull folksonomy search and a multi-area touch screen, like here and it could
improve the dektop. But when I see how slow Microsoft is with its Vista release, something like this
is probably stll years away from being integrated in any major OS, even if todays hardware would handle it
easily.Maybe this can be released for LInux or as a Windows or Mac add on,
like Windowblinds or similar software.
Found this link to the site of the hungarian crew urbanizer via the triggermotion page.
Personally, I really like the style I seen in their demo videos.
Like ours it seems to be a mixture of urban time lapse images and flash vector stuff. This guys have also some hot VJ loops and flash loops for download at their site or at triggermotion.com.
Highly recommmended…check it out!
I have decided to put a schematic flow of our current extended VJ setup online.
Check it out …
pretty complex huh but it does allow for much flexibility, and interaction It is made of up to 3 Notebooks running visual loops and FX with live VJ software like Resolume or Visualjockey or Pilgrim, controlled with MIDI and other controllers and even more sources like a live
camera and a prerecorded DVD source, routed into VJO notebook… all mixed through a Roland V5 video Mixer before its sended to the projectors.
We have other more minimal or even more complex VJ setups but this one we use most often.
We just bought and read this VJ book and highly recommend it.
The interviews with various VJs, all representing different perspectives,
were very inspiring and essential reading for every VJ.
Another thing I love about the book is that it shows VJ art history and puts it into context .
The part on technical advice was not so interesting for us, as doing VJ several years we know
most of it already, but this part is aimed more on newbie VJs.
Anyway we recommend it and might do a more detailed review when we finish the book.
Anyone want to be a rim vj ? Theres soon some job opportunities for sure! Pimp my Ride car enhancements fanatics and VJs might be interested in this
new (?!) LED rims.
This rims use LEDs and , the rotation and the persistance of vision effect of the human eye
to display still and motion images on car wheel rims.
Now I have some ideas how we at Retina Funk could use the potential of this
technique for some VJ installations projects,
not on car rims but using other rotating wheels.
