A nice visual installation presented in  in Japan by Magician, visualist, and technologist Marco Tempest.

Very fascinating use of a virtual screen.

Ninetendo Mobile Consoles used for Vj purposes

After we have heard of remote control VJ applications like Resolume with PocketPCs,
here an interesting take on mobile VJ remote control.

This crew is developing a project where the Ninetendo DS is used as VJ remote for VVVV patches. VVVV is a modula VJ tool I still have to check out properly.

Read more here:

While we are at Ninetendo and VJing, plase check out this project too:

This guy called pikilipita is using a Ninetendo Gameboy Advance and custom software for VJing, and in this case the VJ content is generated by the gameboy advance too.

Mobile Vjing is definely coming on slowly. REtinafunk crew really looks forward to

the day where we can remote control out set from the dancefloor using some similar solution.Yeah ..no more hiding behind the VJ PCs.

Intuitive 3D physics desktop prototype

YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0ODskdEPnQ

Another one in the future interfaces series.
This video shows a PC destop prototype, that uses 3D and physics simulation to
handle and organize files and documents in a more intuitive way, making piles and lots of othr stuff.
I would love to have this, being someone who does hate the traditional folders in folders approach.

Combine this with a powerfull folksonomy search and a multi-area touch screen, like here and it could
improve the dektop. But when I see how slow Microsoft is with its Vista release, something like this
is probably stll years away from being integrated in any major OS, even if todays hardware would handle it
easily.Maybe this can be released for LInux or as a Windows or Mac add on,
like Windowblinds or similar software.

Flash 9 VJ Tool

Pharlap - flash vj tool

Mario Klingemann from quasimondo presented a very interesting project at MAX and Spark flash events.

A new based [tag]vj[/tag] tool called Pharlap.
You can try it out online at http://pharlap.quasimondo.com/, but mind its alpha version and theres no docs yet:

There are a few flash VJ tools around like flight-to but this one is runs on flash 8.5 – 9 flash player (get alpha from adobe labs site ) and Actionscript 3.0 based
Look very interesting, esp the VJO / MAXMSP like FX flow, and the dualhead windows.

It uses additional Java [tag]software[/tag] for audio and MIDI, but I have not tried out this features, but playing around with the FX widgets like in Visualjockey was fun and shows some potential.
I’ll keep an eye on this.

Meanwhile we at Retinafunk will continue to use linear and scripted [tag]flash[/tag] movies as content in our main VJ software Resolume, which also allows for actionscript , even the new flash 8 filters and routes [tag]MIDI[/tag] and audio and even text to flash.

Maybe I will post some of our VJ flash movies here when I find the time.
