Recommended Movie: Plastic City / Dangkou by Yu Lik-wai (2008)

Just watched a few days ago on ARTE this great movie called Plastic City / Dangkou by Yu Lik-wai (2008)
Its a great movie with good actors and shot strong visual style, which I liked.

.So if you liked City of god or the visual style of 300 .

The movie plays in the asian community in Sao Paulo in Brasil, but gladly is not just another favela guns and drugs copycat of the great City of God, though it involved gang fights, guns, and sex but  drugs dont .

I like especially the shamanistic sequences at the beginning and end, and that this movie lefts one with open questions .

The trailer above shoud give you some idea. More infos on IMDB!

Recommended ! Watch this on DVD!

Preview of Coldcut Energy Union audiovisual tour

Coldcut are touring with a new audiovisual calle Energy Union show about intelligent energy.

Here a awesome looking HD preview. Nice. hope to catch them live. This would be something for the Boom festival.

Maybe that could become reality, as Coldcuts Matt Black was already at Boom as activist and DJ.

Vj in 3D – U Thumderdome event video

Now that looks interesting … its ben done before by like of Hexstatic and Coldcut but still we could de with more of 3D.. as long it brings live visuals to more central focus for the party crowd.

Yoko d’Holbachie’s surreal alien creature art

yoki

Yoko d’Holbachie home page and gallery

Just discovered that japanese artist Yoko d’Holbachie, one of my favourite psychedelic illustrators I now and love from way back in 98 is still active.
She still does art, and better than ever before and just has a exhibition from 19-30th in London.
Enjoy her surreal alien trippy creatures..and their colorful worlds.
And it seems her homepage web is still more or less the same design from 1998 and does not look teriblly outdated today..which really speaks for her design.
I wish the backdrops artists at psytrance partys would learn a thing or tow from this.
