WHAT ?
RETINA FUNK is a multimedia art project,dedicated mainly to to Vj-ing, the art of live mixing visuals: video loops, motion graphics, FX ,livecam, flash, 3D and other images synchronized to music, creating a kind of living synesthetic visual collage.
WHO ?
The faces and minds behind Retina Funk are: Andy Weisner a.k.a. VJ Psynergy , Astrid Walter a.k.a. VJ/DJ Inmotion and Hannes Neumann a.k.a. Human Spacecraft who has already created some of our best visual content.
In a unique collaboration with our friends T.O.E. adn Cydata at mindsoundrecords in Münster we also started to work on a proper AV-liveact (audio visuals), where rather than mix visuals to music, the sounds and image, music and visuals are created and played together with MIDI.
HOW ?
We shoot, create ,code, and process most of our content footage, images and loops ourselves, or in collaboration with other artists,and we sample the rest, what we can't create or shoot and like from various media ( DVD ,TV,films,the internet,stock).This visual loops are live mixed,manipulated,scratched and cut-up live and in realtime using the best customized VJ-software, MIDI and video mixer and the result is presented with video projectors on our custom shaped screens or on plasma displays.
WHERE ?
Our live performances are happening mostly at partys , clubs, bars and other electronic music events together with DJs, live acts or bands.Sometimes we do live perfomances and installations in art galleries,or various other events and venues.We are based in Germany so we did most of our gigs all over Germany and Belgium.
WHAT ELSE?
Beside VJing and experimental multimedia art we also sometimes do related stuff like web design and coding, postprocessing, editing, motion graphic design,flash video, DVD production,event documentations and more...
